The Sentence Of The Goose

I maybe found an explication to the name of my street. In french "l'oie" is a bird. A goos.

In my village from the 17th century until the first world war (1914), there was a habit to make the "sentence de l'oie" = "sentence of the goose" . It was a day where everybody would come and reproach to the goose something that he should instead reproach to a person. So if someone was stolen he would reproach it to the goose rather than to the stealer. After everybody has done his reproaches, the goose would be killed and eaten. After everybody would be reconciliated with each other. It happened at the end of my street. Rue des Lowas. "Street of the gooses".

However the spelling is not the same "LOWAS is not L'OIE", I believe it can be the origin of my street name.
